Welcome to
Red Bay Pilates

We are based in East Devon and teach in lovely local venues, we also offer Pilates to the wider community via Zoom or On-Demand videos.

We love to teach all ages and abilities and work hard to create an inclusive environment where our main purpose is to get everyone moving safely and confidently and hopefully leaving the session just a little bit taller, with a spring in their step and a smile on their face.

This site provides information on what Red Bay Pilates can do for you. Have a look around the site and if you would like any more information then please get in touch with us.

I am so pleased I found Graces classes, nearly 9 years with her and I have loved every class. You realise how beneficial Pilates is when you stop doing it!

Prior to moving to East Devon I did Body Control Pilates for 5 years and was only keen to re start post move if I could find a Body Control tutor…Grace is amazing. Her knowledge, ability to share that knowledge and encompassing and friendly manner is a winning combination. I love her sessions and am continuing to learn so much.

Having taken part in Grace’s Pilates classes for a few years now I would definitely recommend joining a class and having a go!

Grace is very knowledgeable, always takes account of any pre-existing injury or strain a client has with additional help and makes the whole class fun and beneficial. Lots of different exercises to try each week with Grace guiding us through the session.

Red Bay Pilates by Grace Brodie provides the opportunity to learn more about your body and how to keep it fit and healthy. The classes usually start with gentle warmup exercises progressing to more strenuous and toning Pilates positions.

I have been doing Pilates with a different teacher for many years, but I prefer the way Grace teaches as she provides clear information about each position, keeps an eye on everybody to make sure we are doing it correctly and is encouraging when we do things well. I have found that Pilates helps with many of my bodies aging difficulties such as a bad back, stiff shoulders and dodgy knees.

Grace also offers individual sessions to work out a program of exercises for particular problems you want to practice in your own time. Grace has given me a clearly written program following this consultation.

I attend the class in Sidmouth sailing club which has the fantastic bonus of being close to the sea, to listen to the waves as we breathe in the ozone as we become flexible and stronger.

Pilates with Grace has improved my core strength and got me way more connected to my body. Before I feel like I had no understanding of my pelvis and pelvic floor and had a lot of back pain. Focusing on this has helped reduce pain! My job is super busy and Pilates on a Monday allows me to come back down to earth! Thank you Grace.

I always feel better after a class. Grace always seem to know exactly what moves I need to do.

Her focused and cheerful approach to teaching, options for exercises depending on how I’m feeling on the day, and encouragement to keep going in the 100 etc is just great.

Red Bay Pilates are the best classes I have ever attended. Grace is a great teacher giving individual attention to each class member ensuring that everyone fully benefits from every session. The class has just the right number for a really enjoyable time. I cannot recommend Red Bay Pilates highly enough.

I love how my balance and strength have improved. The classes are so friendly and a great mix of all ages and abilities – with the added bonus of the wonderful sea view!

I’ve been attending Grace’s classes for a few years. I think that she’s the best pilates teacher that I’ve ever had.

Her lessons are varied. She plans them so as to take into account of our needs but she is able to offer alternative movements for those who find certain positions or movements challenging.

I particularly like the fact that she will subtly help if you’re not quite in the correct position often using a ‘hands on approach’ (with your permission). She always has a smile and a great sense of humour and still managed to maintain a professional approach to the sessions.

I really like how Grace pays attention to our individual needs.

Grace has immense knowledge of the human body and of her client’s individual health issues. As such, I have extreme confidence in her ability to teach accordingly and feel safe. She is motivational and very professional as well as making the classes fun. Praise when it’s due and advice/encouragement to get movements right when they aren’t!

Grace is an amazing teacher. I’ve been attending her Red Bay sessions for several years, and as a result I’ve definitely felt the benefits of practising Pilates. Grace’s classes are fun and challenging (in a good way!).

She is so careful to correct any wrong positioning etc in her pupils, so that they can achieve their best results, and she remembers their relevant health and mobility problems, and tailors what they do in class to suit each individual. I couldn’t wish for a better teacher!

Grace is a brilliant teacher. She is very accommodating for those of us unable to do all of the exercises. Unlike one class I attended, Grace comes around to check we are doing the exercises correctly which is a great help. Attending Grace’s class helps me so much.

I was first inspired by Grace when she came to talk about Pilates at a WI meeting approximately five years ago. I joined one of her classes shortly after. Grace is a great teacher who knows her ’pupils‘ and adapts every session to meet the needs of all our aches and pains.

She is diligent in observing our movements and regularly tweaks us into the correct position. Pilates has helped to maintain my balance, coordination, strength and flexibility, necessary for me as I get older. Grace is very friendly and has a great sense of humour – essential when dealing with us! Three cheers for Red Bay Pilates!

  • Just One Tree

JUST ONE Tree is a non-profit initiative removing CO2 from the atmosphere and reversing biodiversity loss through global reforestation. They plant trees in areas severely affected by deforestation to maximise the effect on reducing global warming. In the process they help to provide agricultural education and sustainable incomes to local communities.

But they don’t stop there. JUST ONE Tree concentrates on restoring the entire ecosystem by planting on land and in the oceans, and they also focus on helping to shape the next generation of planet-conscious thinkers by bringing environmental education into the classrooms with lesson plans and JUST ONE Tree Day.

Red Bay are thrilled to now be partnered with JUST ONE Tree and will be donating trees every month as a part of an ideal that everyone has their part to play to reduce carbon emissions, to combat climate change and to secure the future for our children. Many of our Red Bay Movers make their way to class by foot or pedals but others don’t have the option to do this so by us providing to JUST ONE Tree we are helping to reduce our impact on the planet as a community.

Its main role is to support all Body Control Pilates teachers in their business and in their professional development. • This Girl Can

This Girl Can celebrates active women who are doing their thing no matter how they do it, how they look or even how sweaty they get.

Launched in 2015, the campaign has successfully persuaded nearly 4 million women to take action – but our work isn’t done yet.

Women come in all shapes and sizes with all abilities and from all backgrounds. Some of us are expert sportswomen, some of us are a bit rubbish. It doesn’t matter. We’re just happy that you’re getting active. And if you’re still not sure that you can, we’re here to help you to figure out the way of getting active that’s right for you.

Our research shows that many women are put off taking part in physical activity due to a fear of judgement – this might be about the way the look when they exercise, that they’re not good enough to join in or they should be spending more time on their families, studies or other priorities.

This Girl Can seeks to tell the real stories of women who get active or play sport in the way that’s right for them using images that show what activity really looks like in all its sweaty, jiggly glory. We never judge and we don’t care what other people think.
